UBWA Holds Seminar in Collaboration with Anambra Ministry of Industry

The United Business Women Association of Nigeria and Diaspora (UBWA), in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Industry, has held a mega seminar at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
 
The event, themed “Honouring the Champion of Women Empowerment: Celebrating Men and Women of Impact,” attracted guests from across Anambra State and beyond. It provided an avenue for women to register and open bank accounts in preparation for accessing government loans and grants aimed at supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.
 
In his address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Engr. Mike Obiekwe assured the UBWA women of the government’s commitment to supporting them through the loan and grant scheme, noting that the collaboration was established through the right channels.
 
The founder of UBWA, Chief  Mrs. Nkiruka Duru expressed gratitude to God for His mercies upon the association. She urged members to remain consistent in their business pursuits and spiritual lives, emphasizing that dedication and discipline were keys to success.
 
Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Coordinator of UBWA, Hon. Mrs. Chinenye Okpalachukwu; the National UBWA Farmers Coordinator, Mrs. Ego Ifejindu and various local government coordinators expressed optimism about the forthcoming empowerment opportunities. They advised members to use the funds judiciously to grow their businesses and ensure timely repayment where applicable.
 
Also speaking, some of the association’s patronesses, including HRM Princess Chief R. I. Okafor and Amb. Mrs. Njideka Eboh Nwosu, alongside the Director from the Ministry of Industry, encouraged members to adhere strictly to laid-down procedures to ensure smooth loan processing. They further urged the women to turn out en masse to exercise their civic rights during the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
 
Award presentations to local government patrons and patronesses and empowerment sessions formed the highlight of the event
